A couple weeks ago, I found a honeybee just resting on a dandelion. It must have been very tired from flying around gathering nectar and took a rest. I think it's pretty cute! Until next post!

When I was walking to the Blue Park with my mom, we stumbled near the river, and there were so many gallinippers! I should have been more careful observing them, as I could have get bitten. Some people say that a gallinipper bite is like getting stabbed! D: ...Huh.... imagine a bunch of gallinippers with tiny knives stabbing you. *Iris is disturbed by her own thought* ..Uh... See you on my next photography adventure!

A bunch of ants enjoying a nice meal of Fried Chicken!
I was at the 'blue park', as I like to call it, and my mom and I found a bunch of ants eating a large piece of fried chicken! Someone must have been eating fried chicken and dropped a piece, and the ants found it before the dogs did! They look quite pleased and will surely share some with their friends ant family.

'Until next post! :)

A little stinkbug was on the screen door of my apartment, and I just HAD to take a picture! I got some good shots of him, but all but one were blurry. He kept climbing and climbing.... but he soon met his fate in the web of a hungry little spider... Rest in peace little guy. >o< <IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIIIIIIIFE!!!)

...soooooo...... Kasper... ISN'T a katydid..... o_o I thought he was..... But he was just a very green grasshopper with a mildly arched back. ....I've only handled dark green and brown and tabby grasshoppers... all with straight backs...
I looked at pictures of katydids.... and they aren't even close to grasshoppers, ._. (AARGH I'M AS UN-SMART AS A PILLBUG (no offense to pillbugs). Katydids have skinny legs, very arched back, wings, short abdomen & more leaflike than grasshoppers. *facepalms repeatedly* Sorry guys....
( katydid? More like katyDIDN'T! Heh heh heh...)

This little pillbug was crawling around the entrance of the Bread Canyon. He crossed the busy road three times!

The ants don't care very much for the sweet honey water. They like bread much more. Should I give them pure honey?

Early in the morning, at  8:29 sharp, I headed out the door with an oral syringe full of honey water. I headed to the Bread Canyon and placed bread and droplets of honey water. Not very many came. Maybe they are on full stock of food. Most of them headed for the bread. The other few didn't drink much for long since they were so tiny. After drinking, they returned to the nest in the grassy spot. They probably filled up their 'social stomachs', an organ that stores food, and will regurgitate the honey water for their friends. I will check how it's going later. Until next post! :D

Hi! This is my first blog post on photography!! This is a picture of Kasper the katydid! ...or grasshopper....I think he's a katydid.....yeah he's a katydid. Look at the arched back; grasshoppers have straight backs. Oh, anyways, here's how I found this jumpy lil' feller! I was rolling down a not at all steep hill, and stopped to take a breath. Then, just by mere lucky amazing chance, this lil' guy was staring right at me! "Mom!! Look, it's a grasshopper- no, a katydid!!! The first katydid I've handled!" I scooped up the leaf green katydid, and he was really jumpy! He settled down on my hand for 3 seconds, then.... HOP! HOP! Off he went into the grass. I picked him up again and I got to get a photo of him near my face, it's in my profile picture! (mom took the photo on that one) But after I breathed out and sighed, HOP! HOP! HOPPITY- BACKFLIP!!! He did a backflip and landed right near my leg! (I cropped out my leg because it was covered in dirt from rolling down the hill) I took quite a few photos of him because he's so kawaii (that means cute in Japanese)! Also, It's my first time handling a katydid! (Their kinda like jumpier and tinier grasshoppers. They also like to be in bushes and look like leaves as camo) Well, that's my first post! Bye everyone!

Last night, I sat on a rock in the front-yard garden of the apartment space where I live. I saw a lone red ant in the 'bread canyon', a place between two rocks, and sprinkled some bread crumbs inside. They were glad and a ton of them came. The next day, the bread was gone, but there were more than three searching for more bread. I took a hearty amount of bread that could feed 1/7 of their colony (In estimate. Their anthill was tiny, in a patch of tall grass). And a lot of them came! Really a lot! They were carrying large chunks in a team!
I watched for nearly 20 minutes, and there were honeybees landing on me, buzzing around me, flying away, coming back, and repeating. They must have been here because there was a large flowering bush behind me and they want to collect the nectar to turn into honey. Don't worry if a bee lands on you, they only sting when scared. They will get scared if touched, blown at, slapped, harmed in any way, and shouted at. They will try to land on you more if you are wearing clothing with flowers printed onto it.

Ok, back to the ants. They tore out little pieces just as big as themselves and hauled them into their tiny anthill in the patch of grass. Tomorrow, I will give them bread again (maybe with a drop of honey). Oh, because that is where I feed them leftover stale bread crumbs, I dubbed the place between the two rocks the Bread Canyon! Well, that's the end of my post. Until next time!
