Hello everyone! This is the velvet worm, Opisthopatus Roseus and they are CRITICALLY ENDANGERED. Their population is threatened from habitat loss from logging, destruction of forests for farmland, and houses and cities being built in place of forests. They are also threatened from non-native species and diseases being transported into the wet tropics of Australia. They are soft and fuzzy, hence the cute lil' name Velvet Worm! Though called pink, many are a sweet shade of maroon. (like the color of this text!) They attack prey by shooting a liquid out of oral papilla near their mouths. They use this to trap prey before eating them. They are teeny, usually a couple inches long. We need to save these little fuzz noodles from being extinct!
Stay safe on the forest floor and don't get trampled, little guys! ( OwO)
