Hey friends! Here's another artwork of a threatened animal. This is the giant anteater. Giant anteaters, with their lovely knees that look like panda heads, and their big, squirrel-like tail, are four feet long, and eat ants and termites. They are also really strategic about eating them, eating from one hill, then going to another. Maybe they're trying to make sure that they don't eat so many ants/termites that the colony dies! Well, sometimes humans don't think the same way.
Many animals, including the giant anteater, are becoming threatened because some humans over-harvest the animals and their habitat. That is detrimental for them! If you clear away a huge area, say, to get wood from trees, and clear away animals' food and shelter, they will have to migrate. Sometimes animals have nowhere to migrate anymore and are forced to adapt or die. Habitat loss is a big problem for them and many animals! That isn't all for anteaters to worry about. They are also being increasingly hunted for their body parts, especially their claws. Some people think anteaters are putrid creatures, evil omens, harbingers of bad luck, and the only way to remove the 'curse' is to kill the animal and make a trinket out of their claws. *sigh*...
Well, I'll see you all soon! I'm going to continue making and posting about these wonderful endangered animals. Bye! :>
